2003-2014 GDR Architects Itay Architectural Group Rummy Dechner & Greg Richards Architects Small architectural firm in Marin County. Work includes custom residential homes, new houses in Oakland, California, a multi-family condominium with 11 units in Padre Island, Texas, and a New England Style Hotel in Ocean City. We also specialize in all kinds of home additions and home interior designs in Novato, Tiburon, San Rafael, Bolinas, Mill Valley, and San Francisco.

1994-2001 Dechner & Associate Ltd. Haifa Israel President & Chief Architect Founded and launched an architectural firm specializing in architecture and interior design of high-end custom residential homes, multi-family housing projects, and apartment buildings. Orchestrated and successfully built a network of customer base leading to a growing flow of new projects. Achieved professional recognition for the distinctive design of contemporary single-family custom homes in the unique topography of the Carmel Natural Reserve mountains. Led and supervised several architects using state-of-the-art CAD technology.

Greg Ricards
Greg RicardsArchitect/Contractor
Gregory D. Ricards is a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) with a Masters of Architecture degree. He has extensive experience in design, construction, and project management. Gregory has been self-employed since 2007, running GDR Associates, an architectural firm where he collaborates with two design professionals. His projects include a luxury condominium project in South Padre Island, TX, assisted living condominiums in San Rafael, CA, and residential work with a focus on sustainable design.

Prior to his self-employment, Gregory worked at Itay Architectural and Interiors Design Group from 2004 to 2006, where he was involved in projects such as luxury residences in Oakland, CA, and a hospitality project in Ocean City, MD. He also worked at William E. Cullen, AIA & Associates as an Associate Architect from 2000 to 2004, focusing on residential work and other project types.

Gregory has a diverse range of experience, including working at David Ruffin, Principal – Ruffin Environmental Design, a small office in Oakland, CA, and Roger Hartley, PE, as a Job Supervisor, Construction Foreman, and Draftsman. He also served as a Construction Supervisor at Arcosanti, a project by Paolo Soleri, and worked at Walter A. Smith in project management.

In terms of education, Gregory has a Revit Architecture Fundamentals Certificate from Ideate, Inc. He has taken several energy-related classes and holds a Master of Architecture degree from California State Polytechnic University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of California. He also participated in education abroad at the University of Padua in Italy.

Gregory holds several licenses and certifications, including LEED AP, NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) Registration, Registered Architect in California, California Contractor License, and Engineer-In-Training Certificate.
